MUD Celebrates Ninth Annual Joy Prom

It’s summer again, and that means it’s time for the annual Las Vegas Joy Prom. A night full of music, dancing, and beauty for teens and adults with different cognitive and physical abilities, Joy Prom is one of our favorite projects to be involved with through our charitable branch MUD Cares.

Every year, MUD runs a room where a team of makeup artists are waiting to put glitter in the guests’ hair, blush on their cheeks, and and a shiny new layer of lip gloss on their lips. Even better, each guest leaves with a tiara and a makeup goodie bag with their choice of MUD Lip Glaze. The beauty station is often many girl’s favorite part of the event, and the guests’ faces always light up when they receive their free makeup.

Troy Watson, the MUD grad and director of International Sales who’s passion spearheaded MUD’s involvement with Joy Prom, was inspired by a conversation with founder Bobby Tyler while walking their dogs. At first, MUD just supplied make-up brushes and a couple of lip glazes. This year, MUD was responsible for a Starry Night-themed makeup room for all to enjoy.

The 2018 Las Vegas Joy Prom hosted 300 guests thanks to the help of over 300 volunteers. Thank you to everyone who helped make this happen, and we can’t wait for next year!

The true stars of the night couldn’t be found on the Vegas Strip this past weekend, but instead at the M Casino and Spa at the 4th Annual Joy Prom. This event celebrates those with special needs with a prom of their own — and this isn’t just any prom. It’s truly a night of glitz, glamour, and smiles — smiles that make you warm inside. A night to remember is special for disabled individuals who may not have been able to attend their own prom because of their disability, and has become so popular that the attendees are chosen through a lottery process.

MUD participated in the festivities by giving the ladies a boost of confidence with a makeover, a tiara, and a few products to touch up their look throughout the night. The MUD volunteers pampered the ladies from a salon just outside the registration table, just before the attendees walked the red carpet.

The gentlemen weren’t forgotten as they were presented with a top hat and a shoe shine from the UNLV football team. Once the participants hit the red carpet, they were cheered on by the UNLV dance team, a local cheerleading squad, and photographed by professional photographers. They were then greeted by various beauty queens, including Miss Wheelchair, just before they hit the dance floor. From TV crews to the Las Vegas Fire Department, every volunteer couldn’t help but smile as the excitement filled the room.

MUD looks forward to next year’s event and would like to thank all the volunteer stylists that participated, including Leeanne, who drove up from LA just for the event. To find out more about this event, go to http://www.joypromlasvegas.com/.

MUD Cares was pleased to co-sponsor the recent Joy Prom event in Las Vegas, a full-scale prom event for people with special needs. The purpose of Joy Prom is to celebrate those who are frequently marginalized by modern society. Their goal is to honor the guests with a first-class event that gives them an evening to remember, and the opportunity to feel special, loved, and valued.

The event took place on May 7th, and MUD donated make-up and make-up services. Our make-up artists greeted the attendees and helped the ladies choose their favorite Lip Glaze to take home and then pampered them by applying make-up and glitter. The ladies looked fabulous after going through hair and make-up and receiving a corsage, while the gentlemen looked their best after having their shoes shined and boutonnières pinned to their jackets. Each attendee also received a tiara.
