Fall / Winter Trends: From Classic to Chic

Image

This Fall/Winter season finds color trends in mattes and shimmers ranging from subtle and bold to rich and vibrant. Use earthy tones for a Casual look, bold and deep tones for a Classic look, and vibrant metallics for a Chic look. Create one or all of these looks with our suggested color combinations.

FALL TREND: CASUAL
Soft, earthy eyes in neutral mattes play beautifully with a pop of color on the cheeks and with nude, neutral lips.

Eyes: Use MUD Eye Color in Bone on the brow for a soft highlight and Dulce de Leche on the lid for a brighter highlight to create a subtle contrast to Canyon in the crease; blend the edges of the color to erase hard lines. For a hint of definition, use Rich Brown Eye Pencil just at the lash line and soften with the #210 Angle Liner Brush. Finish with one coat of Black Cream Mascara to create luscious lashes to complement the earthy eyes.

Cheeks: For the fresh, blushed look, a hint of color on the cheeks can be achieved using MUD Cheek Color in Glow applied with the #710 Powder Brush. Alternatively, a cream cheek color can be used such as the Color Creme in Sweet Cheeks. A little goes a long way so apply just a bit on a sponge or the fingertips – and blend!

Lips: For a natural or neutral lip, try Mudslide Lipstick either by itself or with Maple Lip Pencil applied to the lip line first. For a little shimmer, add MUD Lip Gloss in Iced Latte alone or lips filled in with Maple Lip Pencil.

WINTER TREND: CASUAL
Metallic earth tones for eyes in soft shimmering colors that pop, paired with rich cheeks and luscious lips.

Cheeks: Pumpkin Cheek Color is rich in tone and can be applied lightly with the #710 Powder Brush to achieve a warm glow. Alternatively, a cream cheek color can be used such as the Color Creme in Tulip. A little goes a long way so apply just a bit on a sponge or the fingertips – and blend!

Lips: For a natural or neutral lip, try Just Peachy Lipstick either by itself or with Maple Lip Pencil applied to the lip line first. For a little shimmer, add MUD Lip Gloss in Iced Latte alone or lips filled in with Maple Lip Pencil.

FALL TREND: CLASSIC
Dark eyes and sultry lips are hot this season. Shades of gray, purple, plum and black create mysterious eyes while a dusting of pink colors across the cheeks complement warm, inviting lips.

Eyes: Building from light to dark, start with MUD Eye Color in Dulce de Leche on the brow bone. Add Graphite or Smoked Sapphire to the crease and lid, ending at the lashes. Going over the lid, add Onyx at the lash line to intensify depth. Be sure to blend so that each color softly meets the next. At the lash line, add Black Eye Pencil from the inside corner (at the tear duct) to the outer corner of the eye; soften with the #210 Angle Liner Brush. Finish the look by coating the lashes with Cream Mascara for long, thick lashes.

Cheeks: The cheeks should not compete with the eyes or lips – a light swish of color will do the trick. MUD Cheek Color in Rose Petal applied with the #710 Powder Brush to the center of the cheekbone is all that is needed to complement the eyes. A cream cheek color may also be used – try just a hint of Color Creme in Tulip as an alternative.

Lips: Sultry lips can be achieved with the bold look of reds and plums, or lighter, softer shades that allow the eyes to be the focus. For bold, “in your face” lips, try Ladybug or Blackberry Lipstick topped with a dab of Shine Lip Gloss. For a softer look, line the lips with Maple Lip Pencil and fill in with Mai Tai Lipstick.

WINTER TREND: CLASSIC
Dark, rich, metallic and shimmering colors in shades of wine and plum on the eyes and a dusting of berry color across the cheeks complements plum stained lips.

Eyes: Building from light to dark, start with MUD Eye Color in Honeysuckle on the brow bone. Add Sunset on the lid for a warm, golden highlight and Vineyard or Pomegranate in the crease. Be sure to blend so that each color softly meets the next. At the lash line, add Vintage Eye Pencil from the inside corner (at the tear duct) to the outer corner of the eye; soften with the #210 Angle Liner Brush. Finish the look by coating the lashes with Volumizing Mascara for long, thick lashes.

Cheeks: The cheeks should not compete with the eyes or lips – a light swish of color will do the trick. MUD Cheek Color in Berry applied with the #710 Powder Brush to the center of the cheekbone is all that is needed to complement the eyes. A cream cheek color may also be used – try just a hint of Color Creme in Sun Rose as an alternative.

Lips: An application of Eggplant Lipstick, a translucent plum, is all that is needed to achieve subtle and soft lips and complete this look.

FALL TREND: CHIC
Bold shades in complimentary colors for a contemporary, stylish look this season.

Eyes: Building from light to dark, start with MUD Eye Color in Honeysuckle on the brow bone. Next, add Daisy on the lid and Voodoo in the crease, blending to soften the edges so that each color softly meets the next. At the lash line, add Vintage Eye Pencil from the inside corner (at the tear duct) to the outer corner of the eye; soften with the #210 Angle Liner Brush. Finish the look by coating the lashes with Cream Mascara for long, thick lashes.

Cheeks: The cheeks should not compete with the eyes or lips – a light swish of color will do the trick. MUD Cheek Color in Warm Bisque applied with the #710 Powder Brush to the center of the cheekbone is all that is needed to complement the eyes.

Lips: Lip colors in this look can range from soft and translucent to nude and natural, allowing the eyes to be the focus. Try Eggplant Lipstick for a hint of translucent color or fill in the lips with Maple Lip Pencil and top with Shine Lip Gloss for a natural, nude lip.

Coat the lashes with Volumizing Mascara to finish the look.
